One of the key infrastructure operational programs for the period 2014-2020 is the "Regions for Growth", the Managing Authority of which is the "Strategic Planning and Regional Development Programs" Directorate at MRDPW. OPRD 2014-2020 is an integrated operational program geared to regional development and in particular towards the achievement of the urban policy objectives in Bulgaria, paying special attention to the energy efficiency in the centers of support in the peripheral regions according to the national polycentric development model formulated in the National Spatial Development Concept 2013-2025, and contributes to the territorial dimension of the sectoral policies included in the Partnership Agreement. OPRD focuses on support for municipal projects based on local needs, which is a key factor for the development and growth of Bulgarian regions.
