The paper presents the irrigation activities in Bulgaria carried out in the main part by "Irrigation Systems" EAD with subject of activity - irrigation, protection from the harmful effects of water and industrial water supply. An analysis of the historical development and the current state of the irrigation systems and facilities is presented. Key issues related to water supply activities for irrigation of technical and socio-economic nature have been identified. The main challenges to the management and development of human resources in the field of irrigation are outlined. In conclusion, summaries and recommendations for the main directions of future work are made.
