The paper examines the rapid development of private higher education in recent decades. It highlighted that the competitiveness of private universities is determined by its flexibility on meeting the changing needs of the labor market, as well as quick response to prospective students requirements and interests. Also permanent development, innovations implementation, new technologies and infrastructure are distinctive benefits of private higher schools. An analysis of higher education in Bulgaria to public interest and current issues in the field are discussed. In conclusion some solutions are proposed from the practice and rich experience of the author in the field of management of the private university.
